Internal insulation systems for all purposes

When external insulation is not possible on a facade, the spotlight falls on internal insulation. Regardless of the time of year and weather, this solution can be used to incorporate energy efficiency measures into rooms. Sto’s three internal insulation system versions are each suitable for different requirements.

Perfection for the eyes and ears

Rooms make an impression – whether consciously or, as is often the case, unconsciously. It’s all to do with aesthetics, proportions, ventilation and lighting, thermal comfort, and acoustic well-being. With four tried-and-tested systems, the StoSilent range offers acoustic solutions for virtually every room – from offices to restaurants and quiet spaces. They hit the right note with their appearance too: the StoSilent Modular 300 version has just won the German Design Award 2017.

The criteria for the right EWIS

Mineral or organic, non-combustible overall structure, especially thin high-performance insulants: the right system is out there for every insulation task. This breadth of choice is essential because every building is different: the construction type and location factors have to be considered, as does construction legislation, and of course the client’s preferences must be taken into account as well. There are six criteria to consider when choosing an insulation system, and with eight different systems, Sto has the right solution for every requirement.

Sustainable and practical

Even “alternative” insulants still need to be high-performing, professionally workable, and built to last. The new M 039 wood fibre insulation board makes the long-established StoTherm Wood facade insulation system a real alternative for solid construction. Thanks to the improved thermal conductivity and optimised application properties, using a renewable resource as insulation is now a viable option from the perspective of both the planner and the tradesman and building owner.

StoSystain R: Hook and loop instead of adhesive

Thanks to its innovative hook-and-loop technology, the recyclable facade insulation system StoSystain R can be dismantled and divided into more or less individual parts, most of which can then be reused. Render carrier boards made from recycled glass are fixed in place with high-quality hook-and-loop fasteners on top of any type of insulant and are then coated with individual rendered surfaces.

Naturally comfortable

In terms of being able to absorb moisture from the air and release it again, the StoCalce Functio mineral regulating plaster system even surpasses loam plasters by over 50 per cent. It forms the basis of a scientifically tested lime product system which is proven to improve the ambient interior climate of new and existing buildings thanks to its natural components.

Refurbishing a residential building in Tilburg

In the Netherlands, as elsewhere, measures are being introduced to improve the energy efficiency of existing buildings. A small brick building from the 1970s on a residential estate in Tilburg has been fitted with facade insulation, new windows, new heating and ventilation, and photovoltaics to ensure it is fit for the next fifty years.

A protective screen for the house

Ventilated rainscreen cladding systems provide excellent thermal insulation, sound insulation, and design variety. They range from seamlessly rendered carrier boards (StoVentec R) to glass panel facades with accentuated joints (StoVentec Glass) and photovoltaic systems (StoVentec ARTline).

Building renovation for improved energy usage with ECONTROL

Our dimmable solar control glass provides shading without stopping all the daylight from entering the building. And with solar factors of below 10 percent it also effectively protects against overheating in summer. It is equally suitable for new buildings and for (energetic) building renovation. In 2015 the time had come for the research institute “IMBA” in Vienna to exchange the single-pane glazing of the south façade for the dimmable glass ECONTROL (insulation glass type 45/8).

Big – also in Detail

With its new product line “sedak isomax”, sedak strengthens its leading position for premium oversize insulating and safety glass. Despite its slim design, the double and triple units reach a U-value up to 0.23 W/m²K, a new insulation level. They are available in up to 3.2m x 16m. Besides that, the glass manufacturer presented some exhibits with especially sophisticated detail-solutions: a backlit glass pane with a high-resolution, ceramic-ink digital print, a construction showing a part of a glass-fin façade with minimal connection elements, as well as a bent triple laminate.
